April, 2015

Completed reaccreditation procedure of the Testing laboratory has extended validity of accreditation certificate until the year 2020 under LATAK registration number T-316. Testing laboratory has been recognised as competent to carry out testing according to the requirements of standard:

During introductory visit to the forest sector President of Latvia Valdis Zatlers also MeKA and became familiar with institution working scope and laboratories.

March, 2009

MeKA concludes the cooperation agreement with Jelgava Crafts Secondary School on organization practical seminars/ lectures.

October, 2008

MeKA concludes the cooperation agreement with French higher educational establishment “Groupe Ecole Superieure Du Bois” (ESB) in Nante in the field of wood technology education and research.

April, 2008

European Commission announced MeKA Testing Laboratory as acknowledged by EU notified body within the frame of construction product directive 89/106/EEC and it has been awarded registration number NB 2040 of notified bodies.

February, 2008

MeKA concludes cooperation agreement with Poland Institution “Instytut Technologii Drewna” (ITD) in Poznan in the field of wood product testing and research.

January, 2008

MeKA starts project realization of creation of Forest Machinery Operator’s Training Centre in order to offer highly qualified training services in forest work operations with forest machinery.

February, 2007

MeKA becomes the full member of EGOLF (European Group of Organizations for Fire Testing, Inspection and Certification).

June, 2006

MeKA Testing Laboratory has been awarded accreditation corresponding to the competence standards of testing and calibration laboratories LVS EN ISO/IEC 17025, based on the decision of Latvia National Accrediation Bureau (LATAK). The Testing laboratory has been acknowledged by LATAK with registration No. LATAK-T-316 and it is competent to carry out testing of wood materials and their products, mechanical and physical testing of furniture, and mechanical and physically chemical testing of wood materials and their products.

MeKA Forest and Wood Product Scientific Research Centre, based on the decision of the Ministry of Education and Science of Latvia Republic, is registered in the Register of Scientific Institutions with No 444074.

MeKA Further Education Centre offers the possibility to acquire training courses profiting from distant learning.

December, 2004

Latvia University of Agriculture (LUA), JSC “Latvijas valsts meži” (LVM) and Latvian Forest Industries Federation (LFIF) by signing the contract of foundation established the company “Forest and Wood Product Research and Development Institute” (abbreviated  as MeKA).
