Forest and Wood Product Research and Development Institute’s Further Education Centre is registered in the educational establishment register of the Ministry of Education and Science of Latvia Republic on May, 2005.
Further Education Centre organizes programs of different levels – seminars, training courses for different target groups –to managers of woodworking enterprise and their employees, to sector specialists, and to related sector representatives.
The basic task of the Further Education Centre is to give theoretical knowledge and /or practical skills on the chosen topic that could improve employee’s qualification and provide more effective performance in future.
Since 2008 MeKA has established new department – Forest Machines Operator’s Training Centre, which offers to acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills working with forest machinery – harvesters and forwarders. Such type of training centre in Latvia is one of the first where it is possible to acquire the latest techniques enabling to increase capacity and efficiency of forest logging.
MeKA is the member of European Network INNOVAWOOD who actively supports the innovation in the forest, timber and furniture industries, and works in the field of research, education, training and technology transfer.
