Aim of the study: It is to develop an innovative and sustainable prototype of pergolas of curved glued wooden forms, which would provide the end user with the opportunity to complete and install the structure himself, using pre-prepared parts with calculated loads and application possibilities. The project combines the competences of various industries to create a solution that combines the aesthetics, safety and functionality of wooden and metal elements. The main task is to develop easy-to-assemble, precise and intercombinable parts that would allow the end user to adjust the shape and size of the pergola to his wishes and budget. As part of the project, load tests, calculations of radii and bearing capacity for curved structures, as well as stability tests of wood and metal joints will be carried out to ensure high safety of the structure. Special attention will be paid to the quality of the surface of the glued beams, studying its relevance to the production of pergolas and evaluating the possibility of producing beams with a higher visual quality. As a result of the project, a prototype with clear assembly instructions and possible combination options will be created, which will make the pergola accessible to a wide range of users, promoting the culture of DIY construction and offering a new, competitive product on the market.
Project period: October 2024 – October 2026.
