Fire safety is one of the most essential criteria requirements for the exploitation of buildings and respective products. The Research Centre and the Testing Laboratory pay special attention to exactly the issues of timber fire safety with the aim to widen the application of wood materials and provide fire safety in buildings where wood materials are used.

1. Analysis and development of fire protection solutions:
• Fire resistance calculations of the fire barrier function of the building envelope;
• Calculations of fire resistance of the load-bearing function of building load-bearing structures;
• Calculations of variable and constant fire loads of buildings and their premises;
• Calculations and computer modeling of human evacuation strategies. Demonstration of results with Virtual Reality Solutions.
• Computer modeling of combustion and heating of building premises. Analysis of response time of automatic fire and fire detection and alarm systems. Analysis of the efficiency of indoor smoke ventilation systems.
2. Window and door consultations on product conformity assessment:
• fireproof door and window sets;
• ordinary sets of doors and windows;

Actual research is towards the factors that influence timber fire safety and the methods of their improvement. Fire safety is very significant for all types of construction products and construction materials as well as special attention should be paid to fire safety while developing new products.
